Organic resin buildups can be tough to remove. The best way to dissolve them is with warm or hot water up to 140° F (60°C).

Depending on the parts or equipment surface being cleaned, and the level of soil or buildup, the solution can be diluted as much or as little as needed. You can also refer to our dilution chart.

General cleaning - 5 Water : 1 Concentrate
Equipment foaming - 10 Water : 1 Concentrate (Let sit 5-10 minutes)
Overnight soak - 15 Water : 1 Concentrate

Yes. Simply apply the cleaning solution to the target surface area or equipment part. Allow the formula to soak into the greases, oils, residues, and organics to emulsify and lift the soil. Use a plastic razor, soft-bristled brush, or cloth to help lift the soil. Rinse thoroughly with warm or hot water.

Step 1 Cleaner is an alkaline formula that is effective on tough soils and buildups. The powerful solution loosens stubborn resins, organics, greases, and oil accumulations. It easily penetrates gums and dyes that are otherwise unaffected by caustics and dangerous solvents that are found in other cleaners. The formulation includes a buffering agent that enables it to behave towards target material surfaces as a neutral solution.

Although Step 1 Cleaner never expires, we recommend using it within three years of purchase for best results.

Store Step 1 Cleaner between 40°F and 90°F (4°C to 32°C) to maintain its stability and effectiveness.

• Below 40°F: Freezing may cause separation. If this happens, remix thoroughly to restore uniformity.
• Above 90°F: High temperatures can lead to vapor formation and loss of active ingredients, reducing performance.

Keep the product in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space away from direct heat or sunlight.
